Stonks has always been less a financial theory than a simple observation: there is a man, there is a chart, and the chart is going up.
Markets change. Cycles turn. Institutions discover expensive new words for old mistakes. Through it all, the image has endured because it reduces the entire financial system to its preferred conclusion.

The verified mechanism is straightforward: StonkFun states that $STONKS trades in a 4% fee pool and 85% of each trading fee is paid to $STONKS holders in $STONK.
A holder may choose to use received $STONK to acquire more $STONKS, producing the loop shown above. That step is voluntary. It is not automatic compounding, guaranteed demand or a promise that number will go up. Management has nevertheless retained the arrow.
